Hey, y’all! Today’s post is near and dear to me because y’all know I spend a lot of time at my Dad’s house on the beach. My friend and I had a tradition going for a while where we’d spend all of our Sundays on the beach to just relax. It was the best way to restart before the week! Anyways, because of this, I’ve become the master of what I need to bring to the beach. I don’t like to lug around anything I don’t need to. So these are my summer beach essentials that make for a great day!
My Summer Beach Essentials
Tommy Bahama Beach Chairs
Y’all. Once I got these I knew I had found the holy grail of beach products. It’s a chair, it’s a backpack, it has a cooler… It’s literally everything you could possibly need. They’re so easy to transport because they turn into a backpack. I used to never bring chairs to the beach because I hated lugging them around, but this is so convenient and easy. Just beware…when you’re walking with it you are much wider than normal. I’ve accidentally caught myself on so many walls. LOL. I love the original Tommy Bahama chairs that they sell at Costco. Not everyone has a Costco membership though, so I also found the higher end version on the actual Tommy Bahama website HERE, but these are wayyy more expensive. I also found a dupe HERE as well. Be warned, I’ve never used these before, but it has great reviews and has a comparable price to the ones I have!
A Huge Hat & My Absolute Favorite Sunscreen
If you haven’t already noticed, I’m really picky about pretty much everything. I know what I like and what I don’t. Sunscreen is definitely one of the many things I’m specific about. I hate feeling oily, I hate the regular sunscreen smell…the list goes on. This is one of the few sunscreens that actually checks all of my boxes. I LOVE it! It’s moisturizing, it smells AMAZING, and it works really well in the ocean. It’s a San Diego based brand too which is always a win in my book. Top this sunscreen off with a huge hat [the one in the photo is from Target Dollar Spot], and you’re ready for a sunburn-free day!
Okay, this one probably isn’t essential, but I hate going in public in a bathing suit without a tan. I found this self-tanner awhile back, and it’s a great price point and works really well! And it’s actually on sale right now! It’s not the darkest ever, but I was trying to find something a little more economical and this one checked all of my boxes. It’s a nice medium shade. They also have a face tan oil [Also on sale!] that I love too!
Tea Tree Wave Refresher & My Wet Brush
I’ve been using this brand for almost all of my haircare since I was little. One of my closest friend’s mom actually works for them, so she has always given me the best tips and recommendations on their products. I’ve never met a product from them I didn’t love. My hair is wavy, and I have a lot of it. I love this product for after a day at the beach because it’s perfect to style wet ocean hair. It gives you the perfect beach wave. I always brush my hair out first with my wet brush though!
A Pair Of Sandals You Don’t Care About Ruining
I’ve ruined so many pairs of good sandals on the beach. The sand and water wreak havoc on them. I always designate one pair for the summer that I don’t care about and I can use at the beach without worry of them getting ruined or lost. This year my pair are these ones. They’re in the kid’s section and only $13! If you’re not a fan of glitter, they have a pair in solid colors too that are in women’s sizes and also $13.
An Easy Beach Read
There’s nothing I love more than vegging out at the beach with a light book. I’ve been reading the Peach Tree Bluff Series by Kristy Woodson Harvey, and they are so good. I finished book one in two days, I’m on book two and book three just came out this month!
Towel Clips & A Wet Clothing Bag
I thought towel clips were such a gimmick at first, but they really do work when your chair is at an angle. I love that they keep your towel from falling down. They work really well on a lounge chair at the pool too!
I also love having a wet swimsuit bag on hand, so I have a place to put my swimsuit in my bag without everything getting wet. I got mine from the dollar spot at Target, but I found these super cute ones too!
Staying hydrated when you’re in the sun all day is SO IMPORTANT. Liquid IV is a powder that you put in your water bottle that has tons of electrolytes for added hydration. One pouch is the equivalent to drinking three bottles of water! I love it because it’s an electrolyte drink that doesn’t have a ton of sugar like some of the others.
