Hey, y’all! Today I wanted to chat about my morning routine. I’ve gotten into a pretty good groove in the mornings to get myself up and going. As you know, I work a full-time job and I also blog 5 days a week. It can be a lot at times, but as long as I start my day well, I’m able to keep myself on track to be successful!
The Best Morning Routine For A Productive Day
Don’t Let Your Phone Be The First Thing You Grab
This is something I still struggle with. I try to plug my phone in far enough away so that I can hear my alarm still but I can’t reach for it right when I get up. I end up just laying in bed forever scrolling through my emails and Instagram if I start my day on my phone. To combat this, I don’t touch my phone in the mornings until after I’ve done everything else.
Write Down Your Goals
This is something I learned from Rachel Hollis’ book Girl, Stop Apologizing. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is write down my goals. I keep my pen and notebook on my nightstand. I’m a planner. I have my sites set on where I want to be even ten years from now. So my goals include 12 long term goals [Rachel’s book says to write down 10, but I got excited], my one overarching goal just for this year, and 4 target goals for this year I want to achieve that have numerical values.
So for example:
One of my long term goals: speak in public with confidence. This is something I’m awful at and it’s a goal of mine to improve on.
My overarching goal: post 5 blog posts a week and create an exceptional lifestyle blog so that it can someday become my full-time job.
One of my target goals: hit 1,000 blog email subscribers. [If you haven’t subscribed to the blog yet, click HERE! Lol]
Every night I use the same page I write down all of these on to also write down what I’m grateful for. It’s such a good way to find appreciation at the end of the day. Especially if it has been a hard one.
Sit With God
After this, I get up and head to the kitchen [I’m slow to rise in the morning so actually getting ready comes later], and make a cup of coffee. With my cup of coffee, my devotional book(s), and my bible I sit at my table and pray with God. There is no more important part of my morning that having those 20 minutes to sit and reflect with God. It puts me at peace with whatever I have going on for the day. I usually have two different devotional books at a time that I am working through. All of my favorites are linked in this post.
Make My Smoothie
Every day I drink the same smoothie for breakfast. I have the recipe linked in this blog post. For the longest time, I SUCKED at eating breakfast. I was the girl who would keep going and going until it was 2 pm and I hadn’t had anything but coffee all day. I have FINALLY found a way to make it so I actually get up and start my day with food and that is with a smoothie. It’s such a good way to get all of my nutrients for the day, and it tastes like a peanut butter cup! Truly the best.
Shower, Get Ready, & Start The Day
After all of those are done, I then start getting ready. A lot of my makeup and toiletry items I use in the mornings are linked in this blog post. Once I’m done getting ready, I start my day! I know this seems like a long morning, but I work afternoons so I like to relish in my morning time.
I hope y’all liked this little glimpse into my morning! What are your favorite ways to start the day? Comment below!
