Omg y’all I’m so happy to be back! I really did have a plan to post while in the process of moving, but the craziness of it all, and starting a new job, got the best of me. I can totally feel when burnout is coming and I knew if I pushed myself too much during all of this change it would happen. I’m really thankful that after a long time of pushing myself past my limits with stress, I now can sense when I need to give myself a break.
Anyways, a little recap.. since the last post I’ve moved to Texas, added another pup to our little family, and started my new job! It’s been a crazy busy few weeks and I’m really just happy that I’m back on a set schedule again.
Before I recap life and everything that’s been going on I wanted to round up my favorite household items that have been life-changing since moving into our house!
Top Everyday Household Items
1. Dyson Cordless Vacuum
Y’all my mom had one of these, and I knew I needed one immediately after moving in. She knew how much I loved hers and actually ended up surprising us and getting us one! Hers is just the regular V7, but we got the animal one [because two dogs means dog fur EVERYWHERE] and it works so well. I honestly don’t even sweep anymore. I just break out this thing and go to town. I even vacuum the couches and dog beds with it [an idea I got from Tiffani Beaston’s cleaning videos!]
2. Ninja Blender
As someone who makes smoothies for breakfast every day of her life, a good blender is essential. My mom has a Vita-Mix, and I knew I wanted one similar but less costly. So far I’m loving this one! It all comes apart really easy to clean and blends really well [definitely not as fine of a blend as the Vita-Mix though]. The exact Ninja I have is not sold online anymore; it’s been discontinued. I linked the newer version though, and the one I have is still available at Costco in store for $70.
3. O’Cedar Spin Mop
Taylor’s mom told us to get one of these, and I was skeptical because I’ve always been a Swiffer mop girl myself, but this thing is so efficient! I love that you spin the mop before using so it doesn’t drip everywhere. That was my biggest reason for hating traditional mops. It also has a handle and is easy to move around as I go. I’ve been using THIS floor cleaner with it and it smells exactly like a volcano candle!! Plus it’s super cheap. I hate cleaners that leave a residue and this one didn’t at all.
4. Instant Pot
I saved my favorite for last. It makes cooking so easy and I literally make shredded chicken in less than 20 minutes [I’ll share recipes in the future! I have so many new ones to share since I’m cooking all the time now!]. Since we don’t have a BBQ yet this has been my go-to for cooking meats. I haven’t had one time where it wasn’t fully cooked when I pulled it out. It really is a lifesaver on nights where I get home later from work and need a quick meal. I have the 6 quart one, but it’s huge. I definitely think if you’re only one or two people the 3 quart is probably perfect.
Honorable Mention: The Air Fryer
Y’all know my love for this beautiful machine. It’s not a new purchase, but one that I’ve used for a long time. It makes reheating fries a breeze and will heat up my frozen chicken strips to taste just out of the fryer. I don’t suggest the one I have for cooking raw meats, but I love using to heat up frozen foods. I make a mean boneless buffalo wing in the air fryer!
Life Recap!
Oh man, it’s been a month! So to start, I was a bridesmaid in two of my best friend’s weddings. Right after getting back from the second one, I moved to Texas. Like, literally 16 hours after I landed back in San Diego. I drove to Texas with my mom, my godmother, and my dog and it was so fun to get some quality time with them before saying goodbye! I introduced them to Whataburger and got to show them the house.
Speaking of the house, it’s been so amazing having our own place! Taylor and I have lived together for two years already, but we were living with my mom to save money [San Diego is expensive, y’all!]. Everything has fallen into place so easily for us. We have a good routine and are slowly making improvements to the house. Some of the house has been renovated, but some of it hasn’t. Taylor is amazing and painted most of the main rooms before I even moved out here. When he moved in, the entire house was an ugly yellow color and now most of it is a light grey which I love! We are going with a contemporary farmhouse theme, and so far I’m having so much fun decorating. It’s hard to not go overboard, but I’m doing things really slowly to stay within our budget. I have so many decorating plans and I can’t wait to share the process!
Also.. we got another dog! This sweet baby angel is Sadie, and she was Taylor’s parent’s dog. They had 4 dogs total and Sadie stayed outside a lot of time because of it, so we decided to take her in. She’s the sweetest, easiest dog ever and is taking to indoor dog life very easily! Neeka was not stoked on another dog joining the pack at first but they’ve grown to love each other. Neeka licks Sadie’s face all the time and it’s the cutest thing!
What are yall’s favorite household items?? I’d love to know so I can check them out! Comment below!
