Today I’m finally sharing our engagment story! Better late than never right?? 😅
If you don’t know our story, Taylor and I met while I was in college, and he was stationed on the navy base in downtown San Diego. We’ve been together for 7 years (almost 8 now!?), and we’ve been through so much. We’ve done two deployments, countless more days apart because of the military, and we moved out to Texas together in 2019. We have three dogs, live on a lake out in rural Texas, and love our small town life!
So anyways back to the exciting stuff… every year we go to Taylor’s family reunion in July down in Fredericksburg, TX. It’s always a super fun weekend of camping and spending time with family. Every year they do an auction to raise money for the next year’s reunion. Everyone brings items to auction off. Sometimes they’re store bought and sometimes people bring hand made goods. This year at the end of the auction, they announced they were auctioning off a mystery bag. To preface, normally items auction for anywhere from $10 to $500 but at the most I think the highest bid was $500 on anything. When people start bidding on the mystery bag, the bidding immediately shot up to $1000. I couldn’t believe it! Quickly, the bidding starts bouncing off of different people, and Taylor bids $4000. My jaw was on the floor at this point.. I had a feeling something was up. His $4000 bid ended up winning the auction. When he went up to retrieve the bag he asked me to come up and open it. When I opened the bag, my mom’s wedding ring (the story on my engagement ring coming soon!) was inside and when I turned back around he was down on one knee… at this point I immediately starting crying. It was the best moment and I’m so happy we got to do celebrate with family! Unfortunately, we don’t have any photos and the videos from the actual engagement are a little bit hard to see, but we did snap a pick together after! It’s a day I’ll never forget, and I’m so excited to spend the rest of my life with my favorite person. Now, this was back in July so a LOT has happened since then. I am full blown in the thick of wedding planning now! I can’t wait to share all the details!
