Hey, Y’all! Today I wanted to chat about my winter skincare routine, and how I keep my skin vibrant and moisturized this time of year when it’s so dry outside! Down here in southern California, it’s honestly dry all year round, but nothing compares to when the winds kick up this time of year. My hand actually cracked and started bleeding at one point. This is not a drill, y’all. Winter is here, and she is not kind! So here is my routine to keep from suffering the pain as I have:
1. I scrub my face every single day
I know this one sounds crazy. Every face scrub known to man says to only use once a week, but I use this face scrub every day, and my skin has never been more vibrant. I feel like I have skin as soft as a baby when I do this daily. I will warn you, the first month my skin broke out like crazy because scrubbing like that makes all the gross stuff come up to the surface. After that first month, though, my skin has never been clearer. I usually do this in the mornings when I shower.
2. I wash my face at night with a gentle cleanser
I always wash my face at night with this cleanser to get all the gunk off before I go to sleep. I have pretty sensitive skin, and I love that this cleanser is super gentle. It’s so important to have a clean face before going to bed. Especially on days I’ve worn makeup, my face instantly breaks out if it hasn’t been cleaned off enough. Just removing my makeup does not cut it.
3. Toner Water is magic
Y’all, this is the absolute STAPLE in my skincare regimen. I use this toner after I wash my face both in the morning and at night. It is so soothing when my skin is dry and red from the harsh weather. I also love that it takes off any of the extra makeup that may have been missed during my initial face washing.
4. MOISTURIZE. MOISTURIZE. MOISTURIZE.
During the day, I like to use this tinted moisturizer because it does triple duty for me. It’s a moisturizer, sunscreen, and cover up all in one. What I also love is that it’s super light. I like using a lighter cover up on most days that doesn’t clog my pores as badly as my regular foundation.
At night, I love this moisturizer. Not to be too dramatic, but my life changed when I used this moisturizer. The bottle states that it has skin renewal technology, and after using it for about 2 months now, I believe it! Every morning when I wake up my skin feels so hydrated and new.
5. I prefer my hands not dry, cracked and bleeding
The only thing that feels worse than a dry face is dry hands. Like I stated earlier, this season has been ROUGH on mine. We’ve had worse wind than in a long time this year, and it’s taken a toll on my hands. I have gone through so many lotions, and I feel like most of them I have to reapply constantly. When I was at target last week, I found this all natural hand creme, and so far it’s worked so well! I woke up this morning, and my hands were still soft. I’ve only been applying it once a day. Plus, I love that it’s all natural.
I hope this helps with your winter dryness troubles! What do y’all do to combat the horrible winter weather’s effect on your skin?
